"Through embodied exploration of hope, we can take concrete steps to grow and call forth transformative action."
Hope As Resistance is an invitation into courageous presence. It’s a celebration of the many ways that we can rise, again and again and is meant to amplify and support the connections that we can make to life around us in order to continue to show up and to contribute in both times of ease and in times of adversity. Our relationship to hope takes tending and requires awareness. Slowing down, discovering where hope lives in the body and in the world around us and committing to the practices that support and ground us into our present moment helps anchor our commitment to action and change. Through embodied exploration of hope, we can take concrete steps to grow and call forth transformative action.
The roadmap to hope can begin in the tiniest of moments.
Hope is a counterpoint to despair and to nihilism. In a context where it would be easier societally and environmentally to accept defeat and to surrender to fear, it becomes a force of change and of transformation. The roadmap to hope can begin in the tiniest of moments. It can be in developing presence as we navigate our daily lives, noticing and taking a moment to fully appreciate the connection that happens when we share a smile or kind word with a stranger at the grocery store. Perhaps it's the sweetness that we witness in our own children or the piercing beauty of a song or prayer that transports us to a deeper state of connection. It can be embedded in the poetry that we reach for or in the astounding speed and agility of an athlete we see in action. The key becomes noticing. It becomes the embodiment of the conscious decision to nourish moments of hope with intentionality and purpose.
Hope as a form of resistance resonates deeply for me as an activist, as a singer-songwriter, as a mother and as a teacher. It’s the seed of what is possible that comes to light once we become present to the possibility of change and of expansion. It’s the necessary impetus that takes us from our knees to taking that next step. Join me in expanding and exploring your own relationship to hope through the Hope As Resistance podcast, through my writings and through the music we are making as Vallée des Loups.
